The Year of the Robin:
Watching It All Go Wrong for Charlton Athletic and the World

Paperback

SHORTLISTED IN THE SUNDAY TIMES SPORTS BOOK AWARDS 2023 FOR NEW FEMALE SPORTS WRITING

“I loved this book! It seems extremely personal to the author but still extremely identifiable to the reader. It’s sort of about football and sort of about humans. It’s simultaneously funny and sad, gripping and calm. Basically, there’s a lot going on and I rated it highly.”

When Football Was Football: Charlton Athletic

Hardcover
By Michael Walsh

“I found this book to be excellent. It covers the period from 1905 to 2014. It has some very good photos from 1905 to 1921 and some good photos of The Valley in a state of decay and with sparse crowds. There is an excellent section with photos of Sam Bartram who I view as Charlton’s most famous player. There is also a section on Allan Simonsen who I was fortunate to see play live.”
