Author Spotlight: Nic Outterside

Nic Outterside enjoyed a successful 28-year career in newspaper and magazine journalism. Titles he worked for include The Sunday Times, The Scotsman, The Herald, The Mail on Sunday, The Newcastle Evening Chronicle and the Oban Times. 

In 1994, 53 MPs in the House of Commons signed an Early Day Motion praising his journalism. In 2016, Nic received an honorary doctorate in journalism. He took early retirement in 2013.

In 2017, Nic formed his own book publishing house, Time is an Ocean, from a small office in Wolverhampton. The company has, to date, published 63 paperback books on many diverse subjects. Among these are four football-related books: Death in Grimsby, Wet Socks and Dry Bones, Paper Seagulls and Snack of the Day (updated annually). A fifth football book, The Seagull Has Landed, is currently in production. All titles are available from Amazon and Waterstones online.

Nic has been a supporter of his hometown team, Brighton and Hove Albion, since watching his first game in September 1966. In 2004 Nic was awarded BBC Radio Five Live Football Fan of the Year.
